Parent Weekly Update for the Week of October 28th


 
Schools will be closed Monday, October 28th. 
 
The Charter School Lottery opens on Friday, November 1 and closes Friday, January 31.  Please pass on this information to family, friends, and neighbors that may be interested in entering the lottery and enrolling their child at Imagine Andrews. We will have two Open Houses: Wednesday, November 6 at James Madison Middle School and Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Gwynn Park Middle School.  Both will be from 6:00-7:00pm (flyer included with additional information).

 

Parent/Teacher Conference information will be sent out next week in Monday Folders (Tuesday).  Please look for that information and return your preference of times to your child’s teachers as soon as possible.  They will confirm your appointment.

 

Literary Character Dress Up Day is Thursday, October 31st.  Scholars will be allowed to dress up as a story book or non-fiction character. The K-2 Literary Character Dress Up Day Parade will be from 10:00-10:30.

Participation Guidelines

  • Students must dress up as a storybook or non-fiction character.  Any other type of costume, fake blood, or fake weapons are not permitted.
  • Students must bring the storybook that features the character they are representing.
  • Students not participating in this event must come dressed in their school uniform.

Ms. Bonita Gunn
  

 
Ms. Bonita Gunn is originally from Lynchburg, VA She is a graduate of East Carolina University, University of Virginia, and Towson University

 
 Ms. Gunn teaches Mathematics & Science to the Class of 2024 (2nd Grade) and is Team Leader for the Bridgewater College (K-2) Team.  

 
 
 

Ms. Gunn was the Imagine Andrews 2012 Teacher of the Year!

 

Ms.Gunn enjoys traveling and shopping!  Her favorite colors are Purple and Brown.

Parent Weekly Update for the Week of October 21st




Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, October 18th. 
 

Picture Make-up and Retake Day will be Wednesday, November 6th.  All scholars who were absent on the original Picture day (Thursday, September 19th) will take pictures.  Also, anyone that purchased pictures and would like to have your child retake their picture may do so.  You will just need to return the uncut pictures received.

Ms. Amanda Helms

 

Ms. Amanda Helms is originally from Butler, Pennsylvania.  She is a graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. This is Ms. Helms first year at Imagine Andrews.

  Ms. Helms teaches Mathematics & Science to the Class of 2025 (1st Grade) and is a member of the Bridgewater College (K-2) Team.

 Ms. Helms enjoys reading, singing, and ice-skating.  Her favorite color is Orange.

Parent Weekly Update for the Week of October 14th





I would like to thank all parents who attended our Back-to-School Nights this week. 

 

 
Also, thank you to all that supported our Fall Book Fair.  The “In School” Book Fair has ended but you may shop online until Wednesday, October 23.  All orders will ship directly to IA for FREE!  Feel free to copy and paste the link to send to family and friends that may want to purchase books for your child.

 

 
Progress Reports were sent home on Thursday. This is a great opportunity for you to review your child mid-quarter grades. Please consult with your child’s teachers if you have questions regarding grades and/or assignments.  First Quarter ends on Friday, October 25.  Report cards will be released on Thursday, November 7.

On Monday, October 14, PGCPS will partner in education to support National Men Make a Difference Day for Academic Success. The theme for this year is “Turn 1 Day of Engagement Into a Lifetime of Involvement.

The goal of National Men Make A Difference Day For Academic Success is to increase male parental involvement in the lives of our students.

With a focus on improving our partnerships with parents and strengthening our relationships within our communities, on this date, we are encouraging fathers and significant male role models to get involved in the lives of our children and to volunteer within our schools. 

If you are donating baked goods to the PTO for the Liberty Park Fall Festival an alternate drop off day will be Thursday, October 17.  Schools are closed for scholars and teachers on Friday, October 18.

RESCHEDULED DATES

Back to School Night has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 8th (Grades 4-6) and Thursday, October 10th (Grades K-3) from 6:00-7:25.  The schedule can be found below.
 

There will be two (2) sessions. We are asking all to follow the schedule based on your last name to allow enough space for all parents:

 

Session I

We are also running a “Think Outside the Box” Top Contest.  This contest will run until October 17, 2013. 
 
Rules of the Contest:
 
Write, call, or email your friends and family telling them about the BOX TOPS program at Imagine Andrews.
 
Ask them to send you at least $1.00 worth of BOX TOPS.  Have them write your the scholar's name and grade on the back of the envelope.  Then, have them mail the envelope to:
