Parent Weekly Update for the Week of January 27th

The PTO is extending the date to purchase the Papa John’s Cards until Friday, January 31^st. The pizza cards are $15 each.  The cards allow you to buy a large pizza at the regular price menu and get one free.  The card is valid for carryout only at participating locations in DC, MD, VA (flyer/form is attached). 

National School Choice Week is January 26- February 1, 2014. National School Choice Week provides an opportunity, to shine a positive spotlight on the need for effective education options for all children. Participants in National School Choice believe that parents should be empowered to choose the best educational environments for their children. Supporters plan events that highlight a variety of school choice options — from traditional public schools to public charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, online learning, and homeschooling.

Prince George's County Public Schools uses the SchoolMAX Student Information System to manage student data, including grades, attendance records, and schedules. If you need access to SchoolMax, please contact Mrs. Brinson in the Main Office. 

IA School Night at Panda Express (8871 Branch Avenue, Clinton, MD) will be held on Friday, February 7 from 4:00-7:00.  Please let your family, friends, and neighbors know about our fundraiser night!  You will receive the informational flyer that must be presented at the time of purchase.

Parent Weekly Update for the Week of January 13th

This week will be a four-day school week and an extended weekend.  There is no school for scholars on Friday, January 17^th and Monday, January 20^th.  Eagle Pride/Spirit Day will be on Thursday, January 16^th.

The end of second quarter is Thursday, January 16th.  Please continue to monitor SchoolMax and inquire about any missed assignments that can be made up before the quarter ends!  We will recognize all Second Quarter honor roll and principal honor roll scholars on Friday, February 7^th.   Honor Roll is awarded to 2^nd-6^th grade scholars with a GPA of 3.0 or greater with no grade lower than a C.  Principal Honor Roll is awarded to scholars with a 4.0 GPA and no grade lower than an A.  Individual and grade level second quarter attendance will also be recognized. K-1 Awards Assembly will be held on Thursday, February 13^th.

Information and permission slips went home in Monday Folders regarding the IAPTO School Dance which will be held on Friday, January 24^th!  The Theme is “Glow In the Dark!”  The PTO is looking for volunteers.  Kindergarten-2^nd grade dance is 3:00-4:30, Grades 3^rd-6^th is from 5:00-7:00.  There is no cost for PTO members and $4 for non PTO members.  Please consider joining the PTO for $5.  There are still several activities planned throughout the remainder of the school year!

Parent Weekly Update for the Week of January 6th

Welcome to the New Year!  Can you believe the end of the quarter is right around the corner? Progress Reports were distributed on December 17.  Second quarter ends on January 16, 2014.  It is extremely important that scholars make up any missing assignments that teachers allow for make-up. 

The Imagine Andrews 2013-2014 yearbook pre-order forms will go home in Monday Folders. Pre-order dates are from January 6-January 31, 2014. The pre-order price is $16.  The yearbooks will be$18 after the January 31^st deadline. A Quick Response (QR) code is available on each order form should you desire to order with your smart phone.  You may also place your order online.  Just go to www.strawbridge.net , click on ORDER, find Imagine Andrews by choosing the following:

You must provide a valid email address to proceed with your order. 

As part of the Imagine Schools Assessment Program, the annual Family Survey will be sent home to all families (one survey per family) on Monday.  The surveys are designed to gather information regarding your thoughts and ideas on how the school can be improved.  We seek input in the areas of curriculum, leadership, character education, parent support, student learning, school safety and facilities.  Survey results will provide us with critical feedback on stakeholder perceptions and serve as a guide for improvement.  Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the survey.  The Family Survey will be sent home with the oldest sibling if there is more than one sibling attending Imagine Andrews.

On behalf of the entire Imagine Andrews faculty and staff, we wish you and your family a very happy and safe holiday season and winter break!  It’s hard to believe we are nearly halfway through the school year!  Scholars return to school on Thursday, January 2, 2014!

Thank you to all that attended our Winter Musical Program.  Our scholars demonstrated such talent.  We are proud of all of them!

Imagine Andrews will have Safety Patrols when we return from the Winter Break! Safety Patrols will assist our primary grades at arrival and dismissal time.

Parent Weekly Update for the Week of December 16th

The IAPTO Family Movie Night/Parent’s Night Out is TONIGHT…Friday, December 13^th.  Check-in begins at 5:30.  Activities are planned from 5:30-7:00 and the movie (Despicable Me 2) is scheduled from 7:00-9:00.

Off-Base parents that are dropping off scholars for the Parents Night Out will need to re-enter the Base by 8:00pm or be at the Visitor’s Center by 8:45pm to be escorted back on Base.  Please see a member of the PTO Executive Board upon check-in for additional details.

Family Movie Night Details: All families are invited to attend the evening’s activities.

PTO members - Free; Non-PTO Members - $5.00/family

Parent’s Night Out Details: Drop of IA scholars off between 5:30 and 6 pm and pick up at 9.

PTO Members - $2.00/scholar; Non-PTO members - $5.00/scholar

Date Correction: The K-2 Musical Winter Concert will be held on Wednesday, December 18 at 9:00am.  Grades 3-6 will perform on Wednesday, December 18 at 6:00pm.

Individual student home reports stating student results from the Spring 2013 administration of the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) will be sent home in Monday Folders.  The reports are for students who took the MSA in Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) last spring.  If your child did not take the MSA in PGCPS last school year you will not receive the report.
