your child’s homeroom teacher.
Spirit Week will be teaming up
with our fundraising efforts for “Pennies
for Patients”. Staff and Scholars will be able to pay $1 each day (Tuesday-Friday) to
wear jeans along with the identified theme for Spirit Week. Scholars will pay $1 to their homeroom
teacher
each day. Those not
participating in the Spirit Week/Pennies for Patients fundraiser must have on
their uniform bottoms Tuesday through Thursday of next week.
Our students in grades three
through six will participate in the Maryland
School Assessment Program (MSA) in reading and mathematics. The reading
test will be given on Tuesday, March 4th
and Wednesday, March 5th. The mathematics test will be given on Tuesday, March 11th and Wednesday, March
12th. Testing will take approximately two and a half hours each day. There
will be two days of testing in reading and two days of testing in mathematics,
for a total of four days. Students will work independently answering both
multiple choice and short essay questions. Test scores will show how well your
child is learning the reading and mathematics skills specified in the Maryland
Content Standards. You will also learn how
your child’s performance
compares to other students across the nation. It is extremely important that
your child be in school every day and on time.
Should you have any questions,
please contact Ms. Carmen Berces, Test Coordinator.
IN ORDER FOR STUDENTS TO DO
THEIR BEST, PLEASE MAKE SURE:
1. Your child arrives at school
on time. Testing takes place in the morning as soon as attendance is recorded.
2. Your child eats a
substantial breakfast in the morning in order to have the necessary energy and
alertness for participation in the testing.
3. Your child gets a good
night’s sleep the night before each testing day.
4. Your child is in school
every testing day. Students absent on a testing day will participate in make-up
testing.
5. You encourage your child to
do his or her best!
The IAPTO is sponsoring a Family
Fitness Night on Thursday, March 27
at 6pm. If you are interested in volunteering for
